New Moon in Aries, April 6, 2027: Intentions for a Brave Fresh Start

This is the first new moon of the zodiac year, and it arrives with a coach standing right beside it.

The Aries new moon is on Tuesday, April 6, 2027 at 23:51 UTC. That is 7:51 pm EDT in New York and 07:51 on Wednesday, April 7 in Beijing and Taipei. It falls at 16°57′ Aries, less than a degree from Saturn, so it is the year's best new moon for one brave beginning that you commit to and build slowly. Mars has been direct since April 1, Jupiter trines the new moon from Leo and turns direct on April 13, so the green lights are finally coming on.

When is the new moon in April 2027?

The new moon is exact on April 6, 2027 at 23:51 UTC. In the Americas it is Tuesday evening, April 6. In the UK and Europe it is just after midnight on Wednesday, April 7, and in Asia and Australia it is Wednesday morning. Here are the new moon and the dates around it:

New York times are EDT. In London the new moon is at 00:51 BST on April 7. On the Chinese lunar calendar, April 7 is the first day of the third month, two days after Qingming, the spring festival of tomb sweeping and green outings.

What does the new moon in Aries mean?

An Aries new moon is a seed for courage, independence, energy and starting before you feel completely ready. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, the spark that gets things going. Its new moon is the natural "day one" of the astrological year, the time to choose what you want to begin for yourself.

Aries intentions work best when they are short, active and about you:

• Courage: "I go first." "I ask for what I want."
• Body: "I move my body every day." "I train for one clear goal."
• Independence: "I make my own decision and stand by it."
• New self: "I try the new look, the new name, the new style."

Two weeks ago, the Libra full moon on March 22 asked how much room you leave for others. This new moon is the other side of that axis: now it is your turn. It is also the half-year partner of the Libra new moon of October 2026, so a "me" intention here balances any "us" intention you set then.

Why does Saturn matter at this new moon?

Saturn sits just 37 arcminutes from the new moon, so this fresh start comes with structure built in. Saturn is the planet of commitment, time and patience. On its own, an Aries new moon can be all spark and no follow-through. With Saturn beside it, the message becomes "start, and keep going."

In practice that means:

• Choose one beginning, not five. Saturn rewards focus.
• Give it a schedule. A start date, a weekly time and a first checkpoint.
• Expect it to take time. The point of this new moon is to start something you will still be doing next spring.

Saturn has been in Aries since February 2026, so many people have spent a year learning to act with more discipline. This new moon is a good moment to put that lesson into one clear project.

There is also good support from Leo. Jupiter at 17°03′ Leo trines the new moon almost exactly, and Mars at 21°06′ Leo trines it too. Fire supporting fire: confidence, warmth and the energy to begin are all on your side.

What else is happening in the sky at the Aries new moon?

After months of reviews, the sky is clearing:

• Mars has been direct since April 1. The long Mars retrograde in Leo is over, and plans can move forward again. Our Mars retrograde 2027 guide explains the shadow period, which continues into June.
• Jupiter turns direct on April 13. One week after the new moon, growth and luck start moving forward too.
• Mercury enters Aries on April 8. Words get quicker and more direct two days after the new moon. Good for pitches, bad for snapping.
• Venus is in Pisces until April 20. Love stays soft and kind. Be brave, but be gentle with people.

An Aries new moon ritual: one brave step

This ritual takes about twenty minutes. You need a candle, a notebook and a pen. Do it on the evening of April 6 or 7, whichever day the new moon falls on where you live.

1. Move first. Do one minute of something physical: jumping, stretching, a fast walk. Aries starts in the body.
2. Light the candle. Aries is fire.
3. Write one sentence that begins "I am starting..." Keep it in the present tense and make it about you.
4. Add Saturn's part. Under it, write three small steps with dates beside them. The first one must happen within 48 hours.
5. Draw one card and ask, "What will help this last?" Write down the card.
6. Blow out the candle and do step one before the Moon leaves Aries on April 7.

If you closed the last zodiac year with the Pisces new moon ritual on March 8, this is the first chapter after it. For more ideas, see our new moon ritual guide.

A one-card daily check-in for the Aries lunar month

Draw one card each morning from April 7 until the Taurus new moon on May 6, and ask the same question: "What is my brave step today?" One card is quick enough to keep up, and after a month you will see a clear pattern in your notebook.

A few cards carry extra meaning this month:

• The Emperor: the tarot card of Aries. Take charge and set the rules.
• The Tower: the card of Mars. Something old breaks so something honest can start.
• The World: the card of Saturn. Finish what you start, and it will last.
• Any Ace: a pure beginning. Note the suit: Wands for action, Cups for love, Swords for ideas, Pentacles for money and body.
