After four months of looking back, the planet of luck finally faces forward again.

Jupiter turns direct at 17°00′ Leo on Tuesday, April 13, 2027 at 02:11 UTC. That is 10:11 pm EDT on Monday, April 12 in New York and 10:11 on Tuesday, April 13 in Beijing and Taipei. Its retrograde began on December 13, 2026, so after 121 days of review, the creative dreams, romance and confidence you revisited can start growing outward again. Mars turned direct in Leo on April 1, so this is the second of two green lights in two weeks.

A planet that is turning around barely moves for days, so some calendars give the station a minute or two earlier or later, and some print the degree as 16°59′. The day is what matters. You will feel Jupiter "wake up" over several days on either side of April 13.

What does Jupiter direct in Leo mean?

Jupiter direct in Leo means growth turns outward again: what you reworked in private is ready to be shared, shown and expanded. Jupiter is the planet of luck, faith, learning and generosity. Leo is the sign of the heart: creativity, romance, children, play and being seen.

During the retrograde, Jupiter asked you to go back over what you were building and make it truly yours. Our Jupiter retrograde in Leo guide covers that part of the story. Now the energy flips:

  • Projects: the revised novel, show, shop or portfolio can go public.
  • Romance: feelings you reconsidered can be spoken out loud.
  • Confidence: the inner belief you built gets a chance to be seen.
  • Second chances: a re-pitch or reapplication from the winter often gets its answer now.

It still rewards heart over hype. Jupiter in Leo grows what you love, not what you think will impress people.

When does the Jupiter shadow end?

The shadow ends on July 11, 2027, when Jupiter returns to 27°01′ Leo, the degree where it first turned retrograde. Between April 13 and July 11, Jupiter walks back over the ten degrees it covered during the retrograde. Things move forward, but you are on ground you already know: finishing, relaunching and building on the work of the winter.

After July 11, Jupiter is on fresh ground. Then on July 26 it leaves Leo for Virgo, closing the year of Jupiter in Leo that began on June 30, 2026. So the window for Leo-style luck is roughly:

  • April 13 to July 11: grow what you revised. Relaunch, finish and publish.
  • July 11 to July 26: a short burst of brand-new Leo growth. Say yes to a bold invitation.
  • From July 26: Jupiter in Virgo turns the luck toward health, work, skill and service.

Our December 2026 astrology calendar shows where the retrograde began, if you want to look back at what started then.

Why are Mars and Jupiter direct a big deal this April?

Because both Leo planets turn forward within twelve days: from April 13, neither Mars nor Jupiter is retrograde for the first time since December 13, 2026. Mars turned direct at 20°56′ Leo on April 1 and Jupiter follows at 17°00′ Leo on April 13. Mars is drive and action; Jupiter is luck and growth. Together they say: go.

The timing is even better because of the Aries new moon on April 6, which sits in a close trine to Jupiter and a wider trine to Mars. A beginning set at that new moon gets two planets pushing it forward within a week. At the station itself, the Sun in Aries is in a wide trine to Jupiter, so fire supports fire.

One honest caution: Mars stays in its own shadow until June 8, and Jupiter until July 11. Move forward, but give big launches room to settle. Our Mars retrograde 2027 guide has every Mars date.

What should I do after Jupiter turns direct?

Pick the one thing you reworked during the retrograde and move it one visible step forward in the week after April 13. Here is a simple plan:

  1. Look back. Write down what you revisited since December: a project, a relationship, a belief about yourself.
  2. Choose one. The one that still makes your heart beat faster is the right one.
  3. Make it visible. Publish it, pitch it, perform it, ask the question. Leo wants to be seen.
  4. Be generous. Jupiter loves generosity. Share credit, teach someone, champion a friend's work.
  5. Set a July 11 checkpoint. When the shadow ends, take stock of what grew.

On the evening of April 12 or 13, light a gold or yellow candle, read your list aloud and say one sentence that begins "I am ready to grow..." It is a small ritual, but it marks the turn.
